AfriPRO Houston has partnered with Nigerian Reunion Corporation (NRC) to present Nigerian Dialogs during the 12th Annual Nigerian Reunion in Baltimore, Maryland.

POWER SESSION SPEAKERS

Bonike Odegbami
Bonike Odegbami now serves as the Campus President of Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) Eastern Campus, located in Detroit, Michigan. She obtained her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Bowie State University in Maryland then moved to Ohio to obtain her Masters Degree in School Psychology. While at Bowling Green State University, she didn’t see many black, female instructors, so she decided to become an agent of change in education, an area of passion for her. After moving to Atlanta with her husband and child, she received a call from WCCCD inquiring of her interest in working for the District. She began her career at WCCCD working nights, as a part-time evening dean at the Western Campus in Belleville. Soon she became Assistant to the President and then became Executive Vice President before moving into her current position.


Uduak Oduok
Uduak Oduok is an Attorney, Model, Journalist, and Fashion Business Owner. Uduak began her flirtation with fashion with her first sewing project in Nigeria, West Africa. Upon returning to the USA, Uduak reunited with her love for fashion with her first retail job in sales at a national boutique, subsequently working for several notable companies and acquiring diverse experiences in the fashion industry in sales, marketing, and fundraising. She has modeled professionally for a host of shows and designers including Colleen Quen, Cari Borja and Erin Mahoney. Uduak is the author of numerous published articles in national and international magazines and newspapers on fashion, law and health topics. She has also been invited to speak to many organizations on the topics and conducts fashion/legal seminars focused on small/medium size businesses. Visit her website.


Okechukwu Ofili
As a professional speaker, Ofili utilizes principles taught by renowned speakers such as Dale Carnegie, Dave Ramsey, and Robert Kiyosaki as well as personal stories to deliver moving, motivational presentations that leave the audience empowered. He also provides training sessions for speakers wanting to improve their speech delivery and is the author of soon to be published DREAMING WITH ACTION. Visit his website.

WORKSHOP PANELISTS

Kemi Adetiba
Oluwakemi Modupeola Adetiba is a University of Lagos Law graduate. She entered the media industry with a job at Rhythm 93.7 despite stiff competition from more seasoned radio personalities. She then climbed to Television when she was selected as one of Studio 53s Nigerian presenters (even though she had no previous TV experience). Her next move was to MNets gameshow, Temptation Nigeria, where she was a co-presenter. She has also recently launched her own media communications company aptly named K'Alpha. Kemi is a testament to how far passion, dedication, and hardwork can take you!

TOWN HALL MEETING PANELISTS

Dr. Ola Kassim
Dr. Ola Kassim has been the Regional Forensic Pathologist for the Districts of Parry Sound - Muskoka and North Simcoe and a duty physician at the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital since 1985. He also serves as Pathologist-in-Chief and Director of Laboratory Services at the West Parry Sound Health Center, Parry Sound, Ontario. From 1983-85, he was a Lecturer in the Dept. of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, U of T; and was also Associate Staff Pathologist at Sunnybrook Medical Center, 1983-84. Dr. Kassim is currently a Board Member of NIDO (Nigerians in Diaspora Organization) Americas and is a past Chairman.


Kyrian Nwagwu
Kyrian Nwagwu made history as the first African-born elected official in the State of Michigan, having been elected to serve as a Lathrup Village City Council member. In 2006, he was re-elected to the Lathrup Village City Council in further attestation to the success of his giving back philosophy and pragmatism.

Mayo Makinde
Mayo Makinde is the last of three sons to Dr. Olu Makinde and Mrs. Yetunde Makinde. As alum of Western Kentucky University, Mayo serves his community with pride and seeks to help anyone wanting to better his or her community. He graduated with a degree in General Studies even though 75% of his courses were in the Political Science Field. The sport remains a passion for Mayo as he applies lessons learned on the field to his political aspirations and his work in the community.
